What is an STI?
An STI is a disease you can get from having sex. STI can be passed by semen, vaginal fluid, blood and contact with open sores or blisters.
Who can catch an STI?
Anyone who has sex.
Why all the fuss?
As a teenager or young adult, you are at greater risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection (STI) than any other age group. STIs left untreated can result in infertility. This means you will not be able to have children someday.
Sex carries the risk of pregnancy, STIs and heartache. Abstinence (choosing not to have sex) is the only sure way to remove these risks. The more you know, the more you can protect yourself or a friend who is having sex.
