First Trimester
Changes in your body include:
- Hormones changes
- Body makes more blood and body fluids
- Breast changes
- They may get bigger
- They may be sore or tender
- Your nipples get darker
- Weight gain (the average is 3-4 pounds)
- You may feel very tired
- You may urinate more often
- You may have nausea (morning sickness)
- You may feel dizzy or lightheaded
- Your moods can vary
Second Trimester
Changes in your body include:
- Your heart beats stronger
- You start to feel your baby move. This usually starts between weeks 15 and 20
- You start to look pregnant
- Common discomforts from first trimester may disappear
- Your uterus starts to stretch out and get thinner
- Your breast gets ready to make milk
- You may experience Braxton-Hicks contractions
- You may have a bigger appetite
- More weight gain
- You may have additional discomforts such as:
- Backache
- Constipation
- Headaches
- Heartburn
- Leg cramps
- Mood swings
Third Trimester
Changes in your body include:
- More weight gain. You may gain about a pound a week
- Your uterus and belly expands as the baby grows
- You feel lots of pressure in your bladder
- You urinate more often
- You may experience shortness of breath
- Your hands and feet swell
- Your breasts may start to leak
