Molina Celebrates Black History Month
Molina Healthcare was founded to improve the health of our communities and provide those in need with access to affordable, quality care. We’re proud to serve many African American members and thankful for the trust each one puts in us. It’s so important to honor Black History Month and the legacy and achievements of Black Americans in our communities.
At Molina, we are also committed to lasting equity for people of color, and to correcting disparities in education, housing and other social determinants of health that directly impact African Americans. To take a more active role in filling these gaps, we recently launched The MolinaCares Accord.
Building Strong Communities… One Life at a Time
Among other solutions, MolinaCares channels investments toward addressing:
Additionally, we’re working to ensure that the diversity of our staff reflects the population we serve.
Spotlight: Rosetta Roden
After five years with Molina, Rosetta Roden was appointed Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She is responsible for developing a culture where everyone gets what they need to thrive, based on their intrinsic value.
Ms. Roden shares, “I have a varied professional background, but each piece is a representation of who I am personally. As an engineer, I’m driven to make things better. As a marketer, I desire to understand what people want. As a nurse, I want to see the people I come in contact with made whole. At the end of the day, my goal is to have achieved my favorite quote: ‘When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope I could say I used everything you gave me.’ Erma Bombeck.”
From Molina’s African American Employee Resource Group (ERG)
Made up of employees who share characteristics and/or life experiences, generally ERGs come together to provide support, enhance career development, and improve diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Here’s what Molina’s African American ERG members say about why they serve:
“Diversity means that we ALL embrace each other for our sameness as well as our differences so that we ALL feel like we have a seat at the table and can thrive in an environment where everyone matters.”
“I take pride in knowing that Molina embraces Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and am so excited to be a part of it from its inception.”
“I am different! Should I be judged because I am different? I have a different voice. Should I remain quiet because I am different? Diversity to me means being different.”
“I'm excited that Molina is raising awareness around DEI and I think it will help employees feel like they can bring their most authentic self to work.”
“It is important to remember that history is always being written. I want what’s written to reflect that I gave my all to create the best possible world for my son and the world his generation will create.”
“Each individual is unique, and I honor those differences by listening for their voice and experiences while seeking a common ground of understanding. Molina affords me the opportunity to be a change agent creating this diverse tapestry.”
