This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week. It’s more important than ever to put a spotlight on mental health. It’s easy to feel helpless or hopeless when you have a mental health issue. But, remember that you are not alone. Reach out for help. Talk with others who are dealing with a mental health problem. Doing so might help.
If you or someone you know is dealing with a mental health problem, like depression, treatment options might be available to help. With Thursday, October 6 being National Depression Screening Day, it’s an important reminder that getting screened for depression is the first step toward treating it. A screening can help your provider make an informed diagnosis. An informed diagnosis can help them create a treatment plan that is right for you.
Talk to your doctor or call us if you have questions.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has a free helpline if you or someone you know needs to talk to someone right away. Call the NAMI HelpLine at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264). They are ready to help you Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. You can also text “HelpLine” to 62640 or email them at helpline@nami.org.
