Transportation
What's Covered
We can help you if you need a ride to your doctor’s appointments or to the Pharmacy. This is for non-emergent transportation. It is free to our members.
If you need special assistance, there are wheelchair and stretcher vans available. We also cover basic life support and advanced life support transportation, when needed.
Members who do not have their own transportation may ask family or friends to take them to doctor’s appointments. Family and friends can get mileage reimbursement when taking a member to and from doctor’s appointments.
How do members get care?
Allowing more time to schedule your trip makes sure you can get the smoothest experience. We recommend members call Access2Care at 1-888-298-4781 (TTY 711) three (3) days before the trip is needed, but minimum notice is 24 hours before the trip is needed. Members are asked to be ready at least sixty (60) minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.
Members may ask to schedule their ride with a preferred provider. Access2Care will try to secure a member’s preferred transportation vendor. Members asking for transportation with Lyft through Access2Care must have a cell phone that can receive text messages. Lyft passengers must also be able to enter and exit the vehicle without help or have an additional passenger that can help.
For a return trip, “Will Call” may be used if the member is not sure how long their appointment will take. When this happens, members are to call the phone number provided at drop off to advise when they are ready for pick-up. Access2Care's transportation partners have up to one (1) hour from the time of the call to complete the “Will Call” pick-up.
Members traveling alone must be at least sixteen (16) years old. Members under this age must be accompanied by an adult who is at least eighteen (18) years old.
Mobile App
The Access2Care Mobile App can help you schedule, cancel, and monitor your trips in live time. A text message will be sent to remind you of your appointment. You can download the Mobile App by searching “Access2Care” or “A2C” on your phone’s application store. You may also click here to visit the website to create an account and schedule your trip.
