Apple Health (Medicaid) Renewals

Did you know you must renew your Apple Health (Medicaid) benefits each year?
Since you’re enrolled in Apple Health, the state reviews your information each year to make sure you’re still eligible for benefits. When the time comes, it’s important that you act quickly.
As your health plan, we want to make sure you’re able to keep getting the care you need, when and where you need it. So, we try to make it easy for you by telling you what you need to know.
Information you need
For simpler renewal, please have these ready:
- Social Security numbers (SSN) for all applicants
- Birthdates for all household members
- Income details for adults and minors 14+ required to file taxes, including:
- Paystubs
- W-2 forms
- Wage and tax statements
- Resource and asset details (bank account balances, stocks, bonds, retirement accounts)
- Immigration information, if applicable, such as a passport or alien card
How to renew
There are many ways to renew. Choose the one that’s best for you based on your coverage type. It is fastest to apply online.
If you are an Apple Health Medicaid client:
- Online: Log in to Washington Healthplanfinder and follow the renewal instructions.
- By mail : Download an Application for Healthcare Coverage and mail it to:

If you are an Apple Health Classic Medicaid client:
- Online:Go to www.waconnection.org. Click “Renew my benefits” on the left side.
- In Person: At a local community services office. Click here to find your nearest office.

Q. What happens if I miss my renewal date?
A. Contact Washington Healthplanfinder as soon as possible. If eligible within 90 days after losing coverage, you’ll be covered for the gap. Click here for more information.
Q. What happens if I’m no longer eligible for Apple Health?
A. Explore other insurance options through the Health Insurance Marketplace or call (888) 858-3492. If you are turning 65 or disabled, you may qualify for Medicare; call 866-403-8293 or visit the Medicare website.
Q. What if I didn’t get a renewal letter?
A. Check if Washington Healthplanfinder has your current contact information.
Q. What should I do if my benefits were ended by mistake?
A. Ask for an appeal within 90 days of getting your eligibility notice. For Washington Apple Health issues, call the Health Care Authority (HCA) at 1-800-562-3022 or email askmagi@hca.wa.gov.
Q. What should I do if my income changes?
A. Report changes to the HCA within 30 days, including: gifts, wage changes, or employment status. Failure to report may affect your benefits.
